Meet White Twinevine Milkweed: a fast, easy-care vine with clusters of small white star-shaped flowers from spring through fall, and a caterpillar host plant for Monarch, Queen and Soldier butterflies.

WHAT ARRIVES
2 live starter plugs, each approximately 8 to 10 inches tall, rooted and actively growing. Give them full sun and something to climb, such as a trellis, fence, arbor or mailbox post.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE
Like other milkweeds, this vine has milky sap throughout the plant. The ASPCA lists milkweeds as toxic to dogs, cats and horses, and the sap can irritate skin and eyes. Wear gloves when pruning, and keep it out of reach of pets, children and grazing animals.

WHERE IT SHINES
Butterfly and pollinator gardens, fences and trellises. Monarch, Queen and Soldier caterpillars feed on the leaves, so chewed foliage means it's doing its job.

GROWING IT
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Water regularly until established, then reduce watering; it's drought tolerant and heat-loving once settled. It twines rather than clings, so guide young stems onto a support early, or it will scramble along the ground and over nearby shrubs. Give it room: it can climb 10 feet or more.

CLIMATE
Perennial in USDA zones 9 to 11, and roots may survive zone 8 winters with mulch in a sheltered spot. Farther north, grow it in a container brought indoors for winter, or as a fast-growing annual.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Young plugs need a few weeks to root in before they start climbing quickly. Expect caterpillars once butterflies find it.
