GROWING IT
Plant in full sun in rich, well-drained soil kept consistently moist, and feed regularly during the growing season. It matures to about 6 to 10 feet tall, compact enough for most backyards.
CLIMATE
Fruits best in USDA zones 10 to 11. Like most Cavendish bananas, it's cold-sensitive: in zone 9, frost damages the leaves and can set back fruiting, though the plant may regrow from the base. Elsewhere, grow it in a large container brought indoors for winter.
WHAT TO EXPECT
In warm conditions, expect fruit roughly 1 to 1.5 years after planting. Bananas can be left on the plant until they start to yellow, then ripened indoors. Each stem fruits once and then dies back, while new pups grow from the base.
