Meet Jaboticaba: the Brazilian grape tree, famous for grape-like fruit that grows right on the trunk and branches.
WHAT ARRIVES
2 live starter plugs, each approximately 10 inches tall, rooted and actively growing. Because these are living plants, size can vary slightly from one plug to the next.
PET NOTE
This plant isn't listed in the ASPCA plant database, so we can't make a pet-safety claim either way. Check with your vet if pets tend to chew on plants.
WHERE IT SHINES
It's a conversation piece for patio containers, tropical gardens and bonsai.
GROWING IT
Plant in full sun to part shade in slightly acidic, well-drained soil kept consistently moist; it doesn't like to dry out.
CLIMATE
A slow-growing tree, often kept 6 to 10 feet in a container. Perennial in USDA zones 10 to 11, tolerating light frost when mature.
WHAT TO EXPECT
It takes patience: seedlings often need several years before fruiting, sometimes many.
